David Cartwright: About half way from the road junction at Bellanoch, on the Crinan Canal to the tip of the peninsula at Keillmore, are the twin villages of Tayvallich (facing east onto Loch a'Bhealaich) and Carsaig, facing west onto Carsaig Bay and the Sound of Jura.
An incredibly remote and peaceful swim with stunning views and clear water where I spent a good hour swimming around the bay and out into the main Sound of Jura one evening.
Whilst working at Lochgilphead and letting it be known I was going looking for a nice swim spot a local recommended this bay with great views of Jura and even the possibility of dolphins!
Some may not like the mass of seaweed beds and there were a few jellyfish so a wetsuit maybe helpful. Tidal.
