Louise Cardwell: A wonderful small reservoir within the Pentland Hills Regional Park, with some interesting aquatic plant life. The reservoir is then a pleasant 1 mile walk/cycle into the Pentlands.
A suitable access point can be found near the life ring and 'no fires' sign at the south west end of the reservoir. There is a small shallow spot in the water before it goes deep.
There is boat fishing permitted, but don't let that put you off, it is very quiet and chances are you won't be disturbed or disturb anyone. Park at the Bonaly Car Park at the end of Bonaly Road , follow the path signposted for Torduff Water Walk. If cycling you can also follow this off road path, or follow Torduff Road from further down Bonaly Road . Public transport available to Bonaly village.
Limited access and egress points, recommended you get in and out at one known spot, or ensure you have found a suitable exit before starting a point to point swim.
