Wildswim: Festive Swim - Christmas Day
On the beach in front of the Octagon kiosk, just a bit east of the sea front clock tower. Sandy and relatively sheltered, especially at low tide by sand bar.
Start at 11:00am
Bridget Baines: Also at Exmouth: Orcombe point to Sandy Bay is a lovely swim of approx a mile each way but can be started and finished anywhere along the beach. Very little current flow so easier than along the main beach with its fast currents. But it is essential to check the tides as the sea comes up to Orcombe point and cuts you off from approx one third tide to high water. Best is an hour before low water, gives a comfy two hours swimming.
Safe swimming at one hour to one and a half each side of low water. Be aware of tide times as tide cuts off the beach at Orcombe Point. There are steps up the cliff to help avoid getting cut off. You could also walk on down to Sandy Bay and return along the cliff path, but easier to keep an eye on the time and tide.
