Bac Lava: A fun river spot for swimming.
This swim is just at the end of the main Falls. There is a small gorge you can swim up to enjoy the currents, or you can remain within the calm pool area.
Park at the Falls of Leny car park at the very south end of Loch Lubnaig, then walk or cycle approx 500m south on the path/cycleway (Sustrans route 7). The path will continue and turn away from the river, but there is a small path off the main one which will keep you next to the river, walk approx 100m along this secondary path until you spot a third even smaller path and you can see that the river widens into a pool.
You can scramble down this third path to a small stoney beach where you can access the water. There are a lot of rocks getting into the water so care should be taken.
There is a large submerged rock under the water in the gorge which even in low water you can't spot without your head under with goggles on. You can safely pass by this, but feet first is recommended there when going down stream, or remain to the sides. I have only swum this in low water, beware that high water will increase the current in the gorge considerably
