Wildswim: Experienced fell walkers will welcome the sight of Goat's Water, tucked away between Coniston Old Man and Dow Crag, some 500m above sea level.
This is likely to be a cold dip but access is easy from the foot path that passes the lake; but to get to that path it's about a 400m ascent from Coniston, some 4km to the south-east.
Follow the path from Coniston to Little Moon, and then head north to the lake. See also Low Water and Seathwaite Tarn.
Vikki Byron: Easy access off the footpath. Some of the rocks are slippy under foot and there are often a few spectators, but the views are wonderful. It is cold but a lovely refreshing dip after a long walk.
