Kate Rew and Rob Fryer: I used to visit these pools in the woods upstream of Ivybridge with my aunt when I was young as she lived nearby', says Kate Rew. There are three woodland pools, all different but close, and you may run into local boys with the tombstoners uniform of board shorts over wetsuits at the lower run, which Rob Fryer calls Lovers Pool.
Upstream he recommends 'Head Weir for sunshine and lots of little rocky islands to sunbathe on; and finally Trinnamans (the biggest) for diving and dappled sunlight.'
Lynne Roper: We walked upstream from the viaduct in Station Rd and followed the track through the woods for about 3/4 mile. We swam and slid back down the river which was quite high after recent rain.
There are lots of lovely slides, and one pretty amazing waterfall where you can slide off and drop into a deep jacuzzi.
Great fun, and lots of mossy rocks that mean you can usually stop if you need to!
There are a lot of tree branches caught underwater so beware.
Flashy river, rocky bed, steep in places.
