Rich Hadley: You can swim the two miles from Lugg Mill to Lugwardine Bridge most of the way, though the water is a little shallow in parts, and there's currently a single fallen tree blocking the way which means a scramble up the bank and a slither back in downstream. For most of the journey, the river has cut a deep gorge so you're six or ten feet below the meadows above, drifting in a quiet enchanted world with lazy swans, kingfishers and swallows all around. There are some nice beaches to rest on if you need.
