Martin Robinson-Dowland: We spent the whole of a Saturday afternoon swimming in the Wey here. This is a beautiful space, with a sand pit that cascades down the hill into the west bank of the river creating a beach.
There is a bridge from which you are not meant to jump but the teenagers did (responsibly) no one was hurt.
There is also a red life saving ring to identify the place as being used for wild swimming.
Sue Baker: We had a great visit on one of the hottest days of the year. 13/7/13
Read all about it here!
Jade Someday: Great fun slow moving current, easy access great first time exploring open water. Parking could be a problem on a busy day, however fairy quite only about 7 people swimming!
Tom Crowley: Headed over there earlier today. Water chilly at first, but not too bad. Fairly shallow until the middle, so if you do want to jump off the bridge, probably best to check your landing zone first! Easy access, nice and quiet. Current nice and gentle, but enough to prevent the stagnation found the other side of town.
Rowing club meets just upriver, and infrequent canal boat traffic passes by.
Mark Roberts: Clean, but b cold!!
