Bac Lava: A beautiful spot to visit that is popular with the surfers so be careful of those other water users.
Saunton Sands is near Barnstaple on the north Devon coast. It's quite a walk across the dunes from the car park by the firing range. Alternatively park at Braunton and walk down on to the beach.
The sun sets on the horizon are a pleasure to watch early evening. It gives me a serene feeling when pausing out in the sea looking back at the beach that by now is only just in view. Way back in the shallows the surfers seek their pleasure in catching the waves while I enjoy the peace beyond the hustle and bustle.
I like to lay on my back once in the deeper waters, as I gaze at the area around me, the cliffs that follow you out to the deeper area are home to a cream house that sits and watches on all those that like to use the beach to its full extent.
The tide has a big range across the beach here so check the high and low tides before going, either from the net or in a guide from the local surf shops or petrol stations. Most of the time it's quite safe but do be aware of the weather before forecast as this can affect those waters making it rather choppy.
