Kate Rew: If you are out walking between the lakes on a hot day then head for Scale Force, the highest waterfall in the lakes, to cool off under its cascade. Accessible from both Buttermere and Crummock.
Richard Hornby: An amazing location to relax after walking from Buttermere - lovely views but not too exposed. There weren't many people passing either, so it was quite private. The height of water above, and the sound it makes means that this is a thrilling place for a dip!
As this is a waterfall, I would always be caution about objects falling from above.
James Clayton: The footpath runs along the base of the lower fall, but a few meters of scrambling will take you to the much more spectacular main drop. It's a narrow gill, and on a cold day you'll have to fight the spray to get near the falls themselves, but it's gorgeous, and pretty secluded by Lakes standards.
