Description by Outdoor Swimming Society on behalf of Outdoor Swimming Society

This lovely river beach was full when Roger Deakin came in summer 1996. Joe Minihane swam on a dank October morning here in 2014 for Floating: A Life Regained.

Description by Daniel Start who added this swim

Enjoy the riverside ruins, and throngs of paddlers and swimmers, at Costa del Bolton. There are stepping stones and a deeper pool just downstream. Popular, but fun.

Park in the large village car park or continue up the valley for the riverside Sand Holme car park on R (¼ mile past BD23 6AL); go R (downstream) where the driveway splits and park where you wish along ¾ mile of river, then walk downstream to the ruins.

Submerged rocks under the cliffs so no jumping - even though it looks tempting. The Wharfe can rise quickly after heavy rain.
