Description by Chris Booth on behalf of Outdoor Swimming Society
Meet on the beach in front of the Octagon kiosk, just a bit east of the sea front clock tower at 11am on 25th December 2018. Sandy and relatively sheltered, especially at low tide by sand bar.
A Christmas tradition since 1970, the event attracts thousands of people with many being brave enough to take the plunge and go for a swim in the waters just off Exmouth beach. Due to limited parking on the seafront, car-sharing or walking from the town centre car park is advised. Fancy dress encouraged.
Bring a towel, that is a must, fancy dress or swimming outfit and your Christmas cheer. You could also bring yourself a thermos of tea, coffee or chocolate. Just have fun and remember that you will get cold if you are going in for a swim so please make sure you have adequate means of warming up after.
Description by Chris Popham who added this swim
A long expanse of sand reaching from the town to the end of the esplanade road. Plenty of parking on the roadside but really only worth a swim at high tide otherwise it's a long walk to the water.
