The River Stour is wide and gentle at this point with a footpath along one side and a bridge that takes you over to the other. There is a car park with plenty of spaces (watch out for thieves though) and there are lots of picnic spots and benches along the river bank. This is always a popular spot and is usually busy with families and children paddling in the shallow water near a small and gentle weir. A bit further up the river gets deeper and is suitable for proper swimming but watch out for weeds and kayakers. The bridge is a popular jumping spot with teenagers since the water underneath is fairly deep although I can't say for certain if it is completely safe or not, you will have to check this out for yourself. This is definitely one of the best riverside spots in the area but it can get a bit crowded.
