Dropping down off Holme Fell you encounter this dark jewel with prefect reflections of the mountains and trees. It is not huge so you are not in for a long swim unless you go for laps but it can warm up nicely on a sunny day, there are short cropped grassy banks to lounge on and handy trees to hang your towels up out of the way of wet dogs!

There a several points you can enter the water around the reservoir but the beach end can get quite weedy in summer so you may want to try the end under the trees.
