This can be fantastic fun when the river is up, but beware if it's too high as this can become full-on rapids.

Swimmer descriptions
-
These falls are upstream of Spitchwick and downstream of Sharrah - both excellent swimming spots.
To access this area park at New Bridge and walk upstream through the since-the-dawn-of time woods. Take the west side (left of the river if facing upstream) to reach Sharrah Pool, and the east side to enter at Horseshoe, which you'll meet after about five mintues of walking.
The Falls are an instantly recognizable horseshoe shaped falls-come-natural-jacuzzi where spritzy ions fill the air. 20 minutes on you'll meet Wellsfoot Island, where the moss, bracken and tall trees of the woods end improbably at the rivers edge with a beach of golden sand.
