Description by Kate Rew on behalf of Outdoor Swimming Society

This is a classic mill swim; Roger Deakin swam here and said it had a sense of being untouched. The mill pool is at the end of a long quiet road from Ickurgh. The river Wissey flows through the army training area, so is very clean and quite cool. It can be very quiet, or there can be a crowd of people enjoying the shallow pool or playing in the weir.

Quite family friendly.

After a very disappointing trip to a grubby looking Little Ouse I found this obviously well loved but kind of secret spot on the Wissey - Waterlog in hand, lovely cool fizzy dip with Roger's evocative description in my head :-)

It's lovely, but you need to be careful with the weir, as when the flow is strong it can pull you in! It's best to keep back from the waterfall.

Also, be aware that most of the pool is not very deep, so check before jumping in.
