A picturesque deep fresh water loch.

Depending on water levels there will be a sharp drop into deeper water a few feet from the beach.

This is a popular spot for families as the beaches give a perfect base for post swim picnic or BBQ.

There are two Forestry Commission car parks next to beaches on the east shore. Alternatively you can park at the Falls of Leny and walk or cycle to the many smaller access points on the West shore (part of Sustrans cycle route 7).

This is a crowd-sourced map. Abilities vary, and conditions change. Always assess risks for yourself before getting in.

None, however, this is a deep loch and does get cold in the centre even on the warmest of days.

Swimmer descriptions

Swimming from the car park beside The Cabin makes for a very civilised wildswim. Toilets for changing; followed by post-swim coffee, soup and cake from The Cabin. There's is a gradual slope from the gravel beach but then the loch plunges steeply away to very deep water. The water level can change dramatically, so beware of submerged rocks when the water is high. This isn't a place to swim if you're a wee bit shy. It's a popular pull-up spot for Rabbies minibus tours and so swimmers are likely to feature on holiday snaps and videos from visitors from around the world! The other warning is for very cheeky, cake-stealing robins who have worked out that wildswimmers mean cake!
