River

  • Family Friendly

This is a lovely spot for a swim as well as perfect for a picnic and a game of rounders. We went for a day out intending to have a picnic and ended up having a swim instead.

It is deep enough to dive in (from the tree stump pictured) and other people were using tree swings over the river and I wouid say this was a fun and relaxing swim. Suitable for families as the water is easily seen from the banks and the areas around.

It costs 2.00 (ish) to park the car and it's only a short walk from the car park to the river itself.

You can swim to a wier but this does have a raised lip so there is no chance of being carried down the other side unexpectedly.

River is fast flowing in winter, hard to swim against the current, so care is needed.

Park at North Lees Car Park (on google maps) and then swim above the weir that you can see.
