SAUNDERSFOOT New Year’s Day Swim, 12.30pm

Saundersfoot Beach, Pembrokeshire

From 17 hardy souls braving the waves on Boxing Day 1984 to raise funds for their local sports and medical centre, this event has grown and grown.  Last year’s annual swim attracted 1,587 fancy-dressed swimmers and a crowd of 8,000 who flocked to the village to join the festivities.  Rugby and other sports stars regularly feature among the dippers.

Fundraising is encouraged, either for the organisers’ nominated charities or for your own choice of good cause.
