The British Long Distance Swimming Association loves the 10.5 mile length of this picturesque lake in the heart of Cumbria. For the less adventurous, there are many places giving good entry and the view from the water is quite spectacular.

Come early in the morning and creep into the water from a spot of your own to watch the sun and mist rising over the hills above. In summer, expect traffic queues and parking to be quite a challenge. Why not use a swim to cool off after a walk between lakes?
