A small pool on the River Lyd close to the bench and plaque commemorating a WWI soldier. A beautiful spot overlooking Widgery Cross. There are other small pools and little waterfalls along the river, and plenty of picnic spots. Perfect for children too. Park in the CP up the track next to the Dartmoor Inn (a posh restaurant cunningly disguised as a local pub - don't try going in there looking like you've actually been outdoors). The track is opposite the Lydford turning by the signpost. Walk to the river up the track on the L hand side facing Widgery Cross. When you get to the wooden clam bridge (which was ripped out during a spate the week after the Boscastle floods), walk downstream about 500m. Witch's Pool is below the bench and plaque. Sometimes you can jump here, but currently the pool has a lot of shingle in it and is quite shallow.
